Keyboard Shortcuts (Desktop)

Bold Bible on desktop supports keyboard shortcuts to help power users move faster.

Global

  • Cmd / Ctrl + K — Focus the search bar on Help, Bible, and Resources pages.
  • Esc — Close any open dialog, sheet, or modal.
  • / — Focus the main search input on most pages.

Bible Reader

  • Left / Right arrow — Previous / next chapter
  • G — Jump to book and chapter picker
  • N — Add a note to the highlighted verse
  • H — Highlight the selected verse
  • R — Toggle red-letter rendering

Ask Eli

  • Enter — Send your message
  • Shift + Enter — Insert a new line without sending
  • Up arrow — Edit your previous message

Tips

  • Shortcuts always respect the focused element — typing in a text box never triggers a shortcut by accident.
  • Most shortcuts work on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Use Cmd on macOS and Ctrl on Windows/Linux.
